Mud Maid, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall

info_outlineInformation in English

The sleeping Mud Maid was created by local artists Sue Hill and her brother, Pete. This, and their other mud sculpture The Giant's Head, were designed to enhance the woodland experience, following the fashion of Victorian ornamentation.

They have become the inspiration for two Heligan-themed children's books written by Sandra Horn and illustrated by Karen Popham.
